Discussion
You almost certainly clicked on a Hypertext link to display this page.

Hyperlinks can reside behind text (which is usually underlined) or behind images. When you position the cursor over a hyperlink the cursor symbol turns into the shape of a hand. If you then click the mouse the information that the link points to is retrieved and displayed in the Browser window. The link can point to anywhere that your computer has access to. If you are on the Internet it could be anywhere else on the page you are currently viewing, any other page on the same Web site or any other page on the entire World Wide Web.

The Hyperlink is the key to ease of use of the World Wide Web. It is used to provide instant access to related information. Search engines and Directories use the hyperlink as a convenient mechanism for you to access the information that they have tracked down for you.

Hyperlinks can also be used to invoke other Internet services such as Email, Usenet or File Transfer
